The Specialist Nurse-Emotional Health and Well-being (EHW) is a unique post in Lambeth and Southwark and you will work as part of the School Nurse Service. You will work within the emotional health and well-being pathway for school age children attending mainstream school. The Lancaster Model will be a new web-based initiative offering health assessments at key stages inline with the revised 4,5,6 model with its high impact areas, identifying needs to be reviewed and health promotion implemented

You will be an autonomous practitioner and you will work as part of the School Nurse team. You will provide emotional health-wellbeing strategic support to the School Nurse Service for the provision of young people aged 5-19 some of which are hard to reach.

There are 3 central elements of the role:
To lead and develop emotional health and wellbeing pathways, skills, and knowledge within the School Nursing service in Lambeth and Southwark.

To build and consolidate the skills and knowledge of the School Nursing service, providing training, consultation and support in relation to emotional health and wellbeing with emphasis on early intervention and prevention of mental health difficulties.

Work in partnership with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health teams, Improved Access to Psychological Therapies, MIND and other key stakeholders to develop multi-disciplinary pathways, policies and procedures to address the mental health needs of children and young people and will work as part of a team to ensure the evaluation and audit of services.

You will have responsibility for a small caseload of children who are on school roll or are attending a mainstream school provision with emotional and mental health needs. You will work closely with the main school nursing team and also the lead nurses for Children Educated Other Than At School (EOTAS). As well as working with other key health professionals e.g. CAMHS, GP and other community mental health services adopting a think family approach to working with vulnerable families. As part of this role, you would be expected to contribute to innovation and shaping the school nursing service contributing your expertise with children who have mental and emotional health needs.
