We are excited to offer a new role within our Under 18’s Crisis Service as a Specialist Safeguarding Lead supporting young people and their families across Norfolk and Waveney.
This is a Band 7 peripatetic role across Norfolk and Waveney.
The CAIST (Crisis, Assessment and Intensive Support Team) service has 3 teams based across Norfolk & Waveney and currently offers an 08.00 to 20.00 service 7 days a week.
We work with the wider Children Families Young People (CFYP) Core teams in Norfolk and Waveney, to provide specialist evidence based mental health interventions, for children/ young people under 18 in crisis. As a CAIST practitioner you will work with parents, children and partner agencies in both the statutory and voluntary sectors.
This practitioner will be an expert in safeguarding, including domestic abuse, neglect, hoarding, radicalisation, exploitation and abuse.
This role will predominantly be Monday to Friday but there is an expectation to support weekends if required. As part of this team, the main responsibilities would include ensuring the team are following and are aware of best practice guidance, working to support the service within the remit of safeguarding.
Main duties of the job
The team offers community based intensive support to children/ young people and their families. CAIST aim to establish trusting therapeutic relationships, to reduce risks when children/ young people may be experiencing high levels of distress. The CAIST team work to help children and young people to avoid Tier 4 hospital admission, and when required, to expedite safe and effective discharge.
Whilst experience working with children and young people would make you perfectly suited to this role, we are really open to welcoming people from clinical backgrounds who have experience in other areas of mental health. We understand that you will be able to bring with you a wealth of skills and experience to the team and would welcome ways of thinking.
We are looking for people to join us with enthusiasm, optimism, fresh ideas and energy. We will expect you to want to work clinically but be equally as comfortable being part of strategic decision making.
We are looking for a dedicated mental health professional with either Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy qualification. We would love to hear from you if you have experience in working with people who suffer with mental health difficulties and you have at least 12 months post qualification experience in a mental health setting or similar.
