Clinical supervision is a regular and formal process allowing clinicians structured time to receive reflective and practice-based support. It is facilitated by a clinical supervisor with the aims of developing quality care, accountability, learning and personal competence in order to meet organisational, professional and personal objectives. Promoting the best outcomes for service users, it is a proactive process that is led by the needs of the supervisee. A supervisor should not be the supervisee’s line manager or appraiser.

The focus is on the professional development of the supervisee is based on their needs. Clinical supervision is most commonly used in health services for the support of nurses and is valuable for revalidation. The content of sessions will include:

• Current supervisee concerns, worries
• Innovation/service development
• Professional issues
• Topical events
• New/changed policy and implications on practice
• New/updated learning from research
• Learning lessons from national reviews

Cost 

• Member Rate: £75 per session
• Set of all five sessions: £300 (must be purchased before session 1)

Health visitor for ten years.  Nine years experience in independent school nursing working in a mix of boarding and day school settings. Six years experience as Health centre manager most recently at Wycliffe College.
