Job title: Consultant in Public Health – Health Protection

Salary: MG4 – Salary £93,672 – £110,463

Location: Flexible working, Twickenham Civic Centre /Wandsworth Town Hall and home

Our Public Health team is part of an excellent partnership offering better services across the London Boroughs of Richmond and Wandsworth. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and innovative Consultant in Public Health to lead on Health Protection supporting both councils to protect residents from health hazards arising from infectious disease and the environment. This includes the impacts of poor air quality and climate change.

The two boroughs have different and dynamic populations presenting a fantastic opportunity address a wide range of population health challenges. You will be part of a dedicated and friendly Public Health team that is embedded across all council departments and serving over half a million residents. We have an excellent track record of developing our public health staff, and many have gone on to take more senior roles in future careers.

As well as strong skills and experience in leading on complex Public Health issues, we are looking for a positive attitude and the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands. You will be able to work flexibly and autonomously. You will be politically astute and enable elected members to maximise their positive impact on health and wellbeing.  You will be an influential and clear communicator and able to take people with you to effect change.  You will embrace diversity and be able to work and influence people from a variety of backgrounds.

You will report to the Director of Public Health provide a public health lead on all health protection work including infection prevention and control, national immunisation and screening programmes (cancer and non-cancer), inclusion health, air quality, climate change and sustainability. The post will provide line management support to a team of staff, linking with the wider Public Health Team and other council directorates as needed.
