The popularity of disposable e-cigarettes in the UK has sharply declined ahead of a nationwide ban set for June 1, according to a University College London study. Among 16-24-year-olds, the percentage using disposable vapes fell from 63% to 35% over the past year, with users instead shifting towards refillable and rechargeable devices. Researchers suggest this trend may mitigate the ban’s impact on overall vaping rates, which had previously shown significant growth but stabilized in early 2025. The ban aims to curb littering and youth vaping, although concerns persist over vaping’s effects on young people’s health and development, prompting NHS warnings against its use among non-smokers.
