NHS to offer take-at-home tablet for MS

Posted: 12th March 2025

Thousands of NHS patients in England with multiple sclerosis (MS) will soon have access to cladribine, a tablet that can be taken at home, reducing the need for hospital visits for injections or infusions. The drug, already used for highly active MS, will now be available to those with the relapsing-remitting form of the disease. Experts say this move will improve patient freedom while easing pressure on clinics. Trials show cladribine helps reduce relapses and disease severity by targeting immune cells involved in inflammation and nerve damage. The treatment consists of two courses, taken 12 months apart, with around 2,000 patients expected to benefit in the first three years. Click here to read more.
